In 2023 GEFRAN implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform. The rollout built on a long standing SAP footprint that began in 2002 and aimed to consolidate financial control and alignment across manufacturing operations and international subsidiaries.
SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was configured to support core ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and controlling, while aligning procure to pay and order to cash workflows with production and inventory processes. Configuration emphasized standard SAP financial master data, transaction processing and reporting to provide management with consolidated operational and financial information.
The deployment architecture included a Business Continuity design with a secondary SAP instance in a separate site to ensure 24 hour availability for users distributed across multiple time zones. The solution leveraged high availability patterns and a more secure system configuration to maintain continuous service for global manufacturing, distribution and sales operations.
Project governance was executed through a joint delivery model between GEFRAN internal IT and implementation partner IT-Link S.r.l., with phased cutover activities and coordination to avoid interruption of business processes. Change control and operating procedures were extended to cover cross site failover and to align local subsidiary operations in India, Brazil, China and the United States with centralized financial processes.
The implementation of SAP ERP ECC 6.0 delivered a stabilized, continuous SAP service layer for GEFRAN, with migration activities completed without service interruption and ongoing Business Continuity provisions to meet the needs of internationally distributed users. The configuration centralized financial processing for the manufacturing business functions and reinforced operational alignment between production sites and corporate finance.
