| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA - Reinsurance Management (FS-RI) | Insurance ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2023 | 2023 |
In 2023, Gen Re implemented SAP S/4 HANA - Reinsurance Management (FS-RI) as a centralized Insurance ERP platform for North America and international subsidiaries. The multiyear Reinsurance Administration System Project consolidated reinsurance accounting and claims operations onto a single SAP S/4 HANA - Reinsurance Management (FS-RI) platform through system design, targeted enhancements and structured data conversion, with planned global activation following validation activities.
Configuration work focused on core FS-RI capabilities for reinsurance accounting, treaty accounting support for Life & Health and Property/Casualty positions, and transaction booking workflows for premiums, commissions and claims. The deployment included development of data conversion pipelines, conversion validation and stress testing of converted data prior to live activation, plus enhancements to support year-end treaty balance sheet analysis as part of the financial statements closing process.
Project teams established procedures and policies to enable integration into internal and external applications, and collaborated across international, divisional and functional leadership to align business objectives. Operational coverage explicitly targeted claims, reinsurance accounting, client accounting and financial close functions across Gen Re’s North American and international subsidiary footprint.
Governance was organized through global business leadership for claims and cross-functional teams that sourced information across silos, converted and transformed data into actionable intelligence, and provided advisory status updates to management. Rollout emphasized staged activation, conversion validation, reconciliation workflows and formal change controls to embed SAP S/4 HANA - Reinsurance Management (FS-RI) into ongoing reinsurance administration processes.

In 2022 Gen Re deployed Posit Connect as part of a global Posit Team rollout to centralize data science capabilities for underwriting and actuarial functions. The deployment positions Posit Connect in the ML and Data Science Platforms category to host production analytics, model serving, and self-service applications.
Gen Re configured Posit Connect to provision dozens of applications, dashboards, and APIs, enabling model lifecycle workflows, hosted application delivery, and reproducible analytics. The environment consolidated application hosting, scheduling of analytical tasks, and access-controlled sharing of dashboards to support underwriting and actuarial model development and consumption.
The implementation integrated Posit Connect with Databricks to enable scalable data access and scoring pipelines for underwriting and actuarial teams, linking model outputs to downstream submission processing flows. Integration work focused on data connectors, runtime orchestration, and API endpoints used by business teams globally.
Platform governance was centralized under the global Posit Team rollout with standardized access controls and workflow orchestration to govern model deployment and application publishing. The deployment reduced per-submission processing from approximately 30 minutes to approximately 5 minutes, saving roughly 600 hours per day and accelerating AI-driven underwriting workflows.
