In 2017, Grantek implemented Microsoft Power BI in an Analytics and BI initiative to support production scheduling and manager decision making. The pilot project code named Unleash the Data built a Microsoft SQL Server Data Warehouse sourced from the company internal intranet and was presented to senior management.
Implementation work included configuring the Microsoft SQL Server instance, guiding a developer new to the Microsoft BI stack, and constructing OLAP cubes to enable dimensional reporting. Microsoft Power BI content was created and published for manager consumption, including datasets, reports, and interactive dashboards aligned to scheduling workflows. The technical approach emphasized server data ingestion and cube processing to provide near real time analytical slices for operational scheduling.
Operational scope focused on manufacturing scheduling and manager level decision support, with Power BI content delivered to managers to facilitate data driven scheduling. The engagement established internal capability through developer mentorship and configuration patterns for ongoing report development and maintenance. Governance attention came from senior management advocacy as the Unleash the Data initiative moved from pilot toward operational use.
