In 2008 Great American Hotel Group implemented M3 Hotel Accounting as its Hospitality ERP to centralize accounting across up to seven hotels. The deployment positioned M3 Hotel Accounting to handle the company accounting function, consolidating periodic owner financial reporting and day to day cash management under a single hospitality accounting application.
The implementation focused on core accounting workflows, including daily sales and payroll input, general ledger posting, cash management and bank account reconciliation, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of sales and use tax returns. M3 Hotel Accounting was used to prepare monthly financial statements for hotel owners and to generate funding requests as required by ownership, aligning accounting processes with hospitality financial controls.
Historical data migration was completed from the previous Microsoft Dynamics SL environment, all history moved into M3 Hotel Accounting to preserve continuity of financial records. Operational coverage included daily cash flow maintenance for each property, reconciling bank accounts across the portfolio, and ongoing accounting support to General Managers who raised property level accounting issues.
Governance and workflow changes emphasized daily cash monitoring and a monthly close cadence, with staff responsibilities including inputting daily sales and payroll into M3 and preparing tax filings. The project included end user training, with accountants trained on M3 Hotel Accounting and knowledge transferred to fellow employees, and the explicit outcome that historical transactional history was migrated into the new Hospitality ERP.
