| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2015 | 2016 |
In 2015 Great Western Railway implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in the ERP Financial category, initiating a targeted rollout to embed plant maintenance capabilities within the enterprise ERP environment. The engagement included a sustained SAP PM configuration effort that spanned into 2016 and 2017, with a dedicated SAP PM Consultant active from December 2015 through March 2017 to build PM processes and documentation.
The implementation work focused on SAP Plant Maintenance modules and related master data. Activities documented include design of PM processes, configuration of document management and configuration control, creation of master parts lists, loading of technical objects such as equipment and functional locations, development of task lists, definition of maintenance plans both single cycle and strategy based, and establishment of work centres. Functional specifications were produced with explicit ABAP requirements and LSMW creation was used for mass data migration and object loading.
Integration analysis and solution design were a prominent part of the scope. The project investigated and defined integration points between SAP PM and SAP Materials Management, FI/CO, and Quality Management, and work was coordinated closely with ABAP and cross functional teams to specify interfaces and validation rules. Business blueprint workshops were organized to align maintenance, engineering and finance stakeholders with process flows and system controls.
Governance and cut over were handled through formal documentation and testing artifacts. Deliverables included functional specifications, test scripts, cut over activities and end user education and support, with the PM consultant running workshops and supporting go live readiness. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 served as the ERP Financial backbone while embedding operational maintenance workflows for Great Western Railway.

| Cornerstone OnDemand | Legacy | Accero Cyborg Payroll | Payroll | HCM | n/a | 2004 | 2004 |
In 2004, Great Western Railway implemented Accero Cyborg Payroll in the Payroll category. The rail operator has run the Cyborg Payroll platform for roughly two decades, a COBOL era system that became dependent on manual Excel workarounds and presented long term maintenance challenges.
Implementation centered on core payroll processing modules typical of payroll applications, including pay calculation engines, tax and pension output handling, and payroll reporting and export workflows. Configuration emphasized established payroll rules, batch processing, and scheduled pay runs integrated into HR operational processes. The Accero Cyborg Payroll application continued to serve as the system of record for employee pay and payroll transaction history.
Operational coverage spanned Great Western Railway's UK operations, with HR and payroll departments reliant on the application for site payrolls and payroll administration. The dependence on manual Excel workarounds was a driver for an open procurement to modernize payroll across UK operations. The public tender was advertised to address COBOL era maintenance complexity and to solicit replacement options.
Governance activities involved cross functional oversight between HR, payroll operations, and procurement to define sustainment requirements and procurement criteria. No implementation partner or cost outcomes were specified.

| Adobe Systems | Legacy | Adobe WorkFront | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020 Great Western Railway implemented Adobe WorkFront as a Business Process Management solution to support web content production and digital project intake on their public website. The deployment focused on using Adobe WorkFront to orchestrate content requests, scheduling, proofing and approvals tied to website updates and digital campaigns.
Adobe WorkFront was configured to provide project intake queues, task orchestration, approval routing and resource assignment, aligning with standard Business Process Management capabilities for work management and automated routing. Configuration emphasized reusable templates, approval gates and centralized status dashboards to streamline cross functional handoffs between content authors, editors and operations teams.
The implementation was positioned to operate across the digital, marketing and IT functions, integrating work orchestration into the website content workflow rather than naming or replacing specific backend systems. Operational coverage centered on end to end content lifecycle management for web publishing, from request submission through proofing and final release.
Governance changes included standardized intake forms, defined approval steps and role based routing within Adobe WorkFront to enforce consistent editorial controls and operational accountability. The rollout emphasized process standardization and governance for web and digital teams, using Adobe WorkFront as the primary Business Process Management platform for website driven content operations.
