Crown Computing Legacy Crown Time and Attendance Time and Attendance HCM n/a 2016 2016
In 2016, Grundon Waste Management implemented Crown Time and Attendance as its Time and Attendance application. Grundon is a UK waste management and recycling specialist operating from seven depots plus three airport sites, supporting approximately 800 employees including about 450 drivers and crew who work a wide variety of shift patterns that require configurable overnight and variable shift handling. Crown Time and Attendance was configured to leverage Open Options functionality for flexible shift pattern definition, absence management using Bradford Factor scoring, automated probationary period interview reminders and automated alerts as employees approach retirement. Crown developed a dedicated interface to feed time and attendance data directly into Grundon’s payroll system to remove manual rekeying, and the deployment included reporting and an in-built email facility identified for further use. The implementation was piloted at the Colnbrook depot in July 2009 with a six week pilot, followed by a phased roll-out completed across depots by November 2009, matching operational coverage from London through to Birmingham and the Thames Valley. Future operational scope documented during the project included bringing remote quarrying locations into the system using GPRS based time and attendance terminals, with Crown noting terminal integration capabilities to support multiple terminal brands. Governance and change control combined Crown consultancy days with Grundon’s in-house trainer, who participated in training sessions and delivered a half day user training program to secure manager buy-in. Operational process changes reduced reliance on paper timesheets and spreadsheet rekeying, improved the flow of T and A data into payroll and generated positive feedback from managers on usability, with ongoing support provided through Crown’s helpdesk.
