| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020 Harrier Group implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial platform to centralize accounting, accounts payable, and invoice workflow automation across the organization. The programme manager who led delivery from 2018 to 2021 established a PMO and directed the upgrade from Dynamics Nav 2015 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central while owning the IT software development and ERP roadmap.
Configuration work focused on core financial management and automated accounts payable workflows, including invoice data capture automation using OCR and business process orchestration for invoice approvals. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was tuned to support invoice processing automation, an explicit outcome of which was a stated saving of 100 hours per month for the finance team and the removal of a planned additional hire.
The Business Central rollout was executed alongside broader operational initiatives, integrating with a newly implemented data warehouse that fed Power BI reports and a JET Analytics platform, and linking software workflows to equipment procurement, warehouse migration, and a new manufacturing process for inkjet photo printing. Delivery also supported international operations, with end-to-end IT delivery for a new production facility in the Czech Republic managed within a separate £500,000 budget and a larger £5 million programme that covered equipment procurement, fit-outs, and software workflow integration.
Governance was provided through a cross-functional PMO with business analysis and project management capabilities, direct line management of two staff, and formal RFQ and specification processes for equipment procurement. The programme notes on-time and on-budget delivery for the Czech facility and explicit process improvements in invoice data capture automation, demonstrating that the ERP Financial implementation was coordinated with infrastructure, manufacturing, and analytics initiatives rather than being an isolated finance project.
