In 2014 the Diocese of Harrisburg began deployment of Microsoft Dynamics NAV Benefits Administration and continued implementation work through November 2015. The rollout targeted Benefits Administration for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, supporting roughly 3,000 employees and their employers across parish and school sites. Microsoft Dynamics NAV Benefits Administration was configured to manage core benefits and payroll workflows including new hire setup, terminations, and hour changes, along with time entry, approval, calculation, and balancing of approved timesheets. The implementation covered direct deposit processing and creation of CH files to PNC Bank, printing of checks and vouchers for mailing to employers, and maintenance of PTO balances. Operational payroll and finance activities were instrumented within Microsoft Dynamics NAV, including pivot table ledger entries, Department of Health reports, posting of payroll and accounts payable liabilities, verification and funding of 401k accounts, and processing of child support payments and garnishments. External touchpoints included CH file transmission to PNC Bank and electronic federal and state tax filings via the EFTPS website. The program was operated by an internal payroll and benefits team, with three staff assisting in payroll and benefits processes across the diocese, and workflows established for hires, terminations, approvals, and benefit enrollments. Governance included routine posting and reconciliation activities, check requests for United Way deductions, and ongoing HR support and benefits administration.
