Work concentrated on core financial capabilities with a specific focus on the treasury and cash management module, which underwent a significant rewrite between PeopleSoft versions 9.1 and 9.2 and therefore required a functional reimplementation to preserve its workflows. The engagement included an application upgrade from PeopleSoft 9.1 to 9.2 and PeopleTools version upgrades performed in the cloud, with configuration and testing centered on restoring treasury workflows and ERP Financial controls. The technical architecture used an accelerated lift and shift of PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and the upgrades were executed on OCI to consolidate platform management. PeopleSoft Cloud Manager was utilized to provision and maintain the new environments on OCI, and disaster recovery was implemented using Oracle Data Guard combined with RSYNC to synchronize recovery systems and support environment failover. Project governance ran as coordinated waves of mini projects with joint teams from Heidrick & Struggles and Astute Business Solutions executing parallel upgrade, configuration, and cutover activities. Operational governance emphasized Cloud Manager based environment lifecycle controls, formalized maintenance procedures for the new OCI hosted environments, and a dedicated functional reimplementation window to revalidate treasury and cash management processes. The case documentation notes the substantial volume of work completed by the combined Heidrick & Struggles and Astute teams and highlights teamwork as a notable operational strength of the engagement. A primary technical risk encountered was the treasury module rewrite between 9.1 and 9.2, which mandated the focused functional reimplementation to maintain module capability.
