STARLIMS Legacy Starlims Abbott eScreen BackGround Screening HCM n/a 2020 2020
In 2020, Hellas Construction implemented Starlims Abbott eScreen for BackGround Screening to centralize pre-employment screening and formalize new hire onboarding workflows. The deployment was scoped to support a distributed national workforce with primary administrative operations based in Austin, Texas, and operational coordination with Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Managers in the field. Starlims Abbott eScreen was configured to manage key screening capabilities, including scheduling and tracking of drug screens, initiation and adjudication of background checks, candidate communications for new hire paperwork and welcome messages, and retention and filing of drug screen and background check results. Onboarding workflows were instrumented to cover sending new hire paperwork, following up on incomplete documentation, delivering new hire presentations, coordinating apparel and device provisioning, and updating the corporate org chart as part of employee record maintenance. The implementation includes explicit operational integration points with vendor screening and payment flows, with eScreen and HireRight coding assigned to Business Units and coordinated payment processing through Accounts Payable. Administration and operational ownership reside with the HR onboarding team who perform Excel-based tracking, credit card coding monthly, and remote coordination across internal management and field teams. Governance established role-based responsibilities for scheduling, vendor coordination, record filing and communication between HR and project leadership, embedding a service-oriented onboarding function within Hellas Construction. The system has been in operational use since 2020 and continues to support onboarding activities in Austin, Texas from August 2022 to present, handling pre-employment screening and new hire lifecycle tasks across the organization.
