In 2019, Horizon Eye Care implemented Sage Intacct as its ERP Financial system to consolidate accounting across six locations serving the greater Charlotte area. Horizon Eye Care migrated from Sage 500 ERP after that product was slated for phase out, initiating a move to a cloud based accounting platform that could manage multiple legal entities, departments, and physician level expense tracking.
The implementation focused on Sage Intacct dimension modules and a single chart of accounts to deliver consolidated and dimensional reporting by location, department, and physician. Configuration work included centralized vendor records, automated accounts payable workflows, journal entry editing and reclassification while periods remain open, and report templates that can be duplicated and renamed for rapid distribution across entities.
Integrations and operational coverage emphasized bank related processes and distributed access rather than specific third party names, the finance team automated AP uploads to bank files and positive pay processes, reducing manual check processing and reissuing. Data was moved off site to Sage Intacct cloud storage, eliminating the in house server requirement and enabling the finance team to access the system from any device and location across all six offices and departmental units.
Governance and workflow changes established one chart of accounts and one vendor set for all Horizon Eye Care companies, removing the need for multiple database logins that had existed under Sage 500 ERP. Dean Dorton served as the SI and implementation lead, providing certified Sage Intacct consulting resources to configure dimensions, address customizations, and support the rollout and user enablement across the controller led finance organization.
As implemented, Sage Intacct provides Horizon Eye Care with centralized, dimensional financial statements and faster transaction processing, including the ability to upload large data volumes and reclassify entries efficiently. The finance team reports time savings from AP automation and improved visibility across entities, and Sage Intacct now serves as the centralized ERP Financial platform for Horizon Eye Care.
