In 2019, IAG New Zealand implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as its Core HR system to centralize employee master data and organizational structure for People and Culture, HRIS and Payroll functions. The deployment covered a 4,000 employee population across New Zealand and positioned SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as the authoritative system for job architecture and position management.
Configuration work focused on Employee Central modules for organizational management, job and position constructs, and master data governance. Implementation activities included creation and maintenance of job codes, position codes and reporting line structures, and establishing the job architecture and position hierarchy that drive downstream HR processes. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central was configured to support role provisioning logic and data models used by HR and performance workflows.
The implementation included integration points with the existing Chris21 payroll system to preserve payroll processing continuity and to align user access and security controls between HRIS and payroll. Day to day operations documented in the program highlighted ongoing maintenance of Chris21 alongside Employee Central, and coordination between HRIS, Payroll and P&C teams for effective data flows.
Governance and operational change emphasized master data ownership and training, with an EC subject matter expert responsible for master data and job architecture, educating P&C teams on downstream impacts to systems access and role provisioning when restructures occur. Operational responsibilities extended to maintaining Chris21 user access and security, providing HR/payroll systems knowledge for restructures, and supporting Tier 2 HRIS and performance administration workflows.
