| Thermo Fisher Scientific | Legacy | Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS | Laboratory Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2022 | 2022 |
In 2022 Invista deployed Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS for Laboratory Management to centralize laboratory data and support quality control and analytical testing workflows. The implementation targeted plant laboratory operations and product control functions, providing a single system for sample intake, test scheduling, result capture, and reporting to operations staff and control room operators.
Configuration focused on sample lifecycle and results workflows, including sample identification, chain of custody, results entry, and method-driven test workflows typical of Laboratory Management systems. Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS was applied to manage a broad range of tests documented by laboratory staff, including XRF, catalyst analysis, percent solids, HCN, imine and water titration, distillation, color purity, viscosity, ammonia by Nessler reagent, cyanide spectrometry, pH, TOC, and PRI profiles.
The deployment integrated laboratory instrumentation into electronic result flows, aligning data from gas chromatographs, high performance liquid chromatographs, ion chromatographs, x-ray fluorescence spectrometers, automatic titrators, stills, and total organic carbon analyzers with the LIMS. Laboratory staff also executed a parallel program of chromatography data system adoption, transferring instruments onto Thermo Fisher Chromeleon and training analysts, enabling Chromeleon to serve as the instrument control and data capture layer alongside Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS for central Laboratory Management.
Governance and operational handover emphasized training, documentation, and standardized checklists to support reproducible testing and safe operations, with lab technicians providing new hire and instrument-specific training. Deliverables included routine communication of precise sample results to control room operators, enabling operators and engineers to adjust processes and maintain product specifications, and consolidated laboratory workflows supporting product control and environment health and safety procedures.
