| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, IOI Corporation implemented SAP S/4 HANA as part of a group-wide ERP Financial programme that extended SAP into its primary agricultural business for oil palm plantations. The rollout complemented an existing SAP Enterprise Resource Planning footprint in IOI’s downstream resource-based manufacturing business that had been in place for more than 15 years, and it was positioned to support plantation industry specific requirements while running on the SAP HANA in-memory database.
The SAP S/4 HANA deployment was configured to centralize corporate information and to support core ERP Financial capabilities alongside value chain orchestration, enabling real-time decision-making and analytics. Implementation work emphasized business process standardization across financial management, integrated operational reporting, and plantation operational workflows, with the SAP S/4 HANA business suite providing the transactional and analytic foundation.
The programme was executed in several roll-out stages to create a single unified platform called the ONE IOI Integrated Platform, and it integrated the SAP S/4 HANA environment with an Electronic Plantation Monitoring System known as ePMS using handheld devices for field data capture. Operational coverage included 107 business units across approximately 170,000 hectares of planted area and more than 1,200 users, many of whom were based in remote locations with unstable internet connectivity.
Governance and rollout design accounted for the distributed nature of field operations and the need to harmonize previously stand-alone systems into a single platform, forcing staged deployment sequencing and standardized operational workflows for finance and plantation operations. Field capture using handheld devices and the ePMS was embedded into operational processes to ensure plantation data flowed into the SAP S/4 HANA transactional and analytic layers.
With SAP S/4 HANA, IOI Corporation achieved fully integrated corporate information for real-time analytics, more streamlined operations, and further optimized processes across the business, aligning the ERP Financial system to the company objective of optimizing activities across the entire value chain to maximize productivity and minimize cost.

| Orisoft Technology Berhad | Legacy | Orisoft HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018 IOI Corporation implemented Orisoft HCM UNIFIEDHCM as a Core HR solution to decentralise processing and centralise employee information for HR decision making. The project was formally kicked off on 11 October 2018 at IOI headquarters, where IOI Head of Group Human Resource Development and Orisoft product and project leads presented project details and the implementation timeline.
The deployment used a web based, user friendly architecture that enabled decentralisation of HR processing across corporate and plantation sites. Orisoft HCM was configured to automate core HR transactions, integrate real time employee data, provide built in analytical and query features, and deliver predictive analytics and employee experience capabilities consistent with Core HR functional workflows.
Operational coverage targeted managing approximately 3,500 employees from IOI Corporation Berhad corporate and plantation divisions at IOI headquarters, plantation executives in estates in Peninsular Malaysia and the Lahad Datu and Sandakan regions, and employees from IOI Properties Group Berhad across property development, property investment and hospitality and leisure divisions. The implementation emphasized fully integrated HRIS operations and decentralised transaction processing to support HR administration, workforce data management and engagement initiatives.
Governance and rollout included an executive level kickoff event and stakeholder engagement activities, with Orisoft presenting project milestones and timeline to IOI stakeholders. The stated objectives of UNIFIEDHCM and Orisoft HCM included enhanced HR transactions, integration of real time employee data, built in analytics and query capabilities, predictive analytics, and features aimed at improving employee experience and boosting engagement.

| Yokogawa Electric | Legacy | Visual Mesa Energy Management | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, IOI Corporation deployed Visual Mesa Energy Management as part of an Enterprise Asset Management initiative to improve energy monitoring at its Oleochemical operations. Visual Mesa Energy Management provides visibility into energy flow and consumption, serving as the central energy monitoring application within IOI’s plant operations landscape.
The deployment emphasizes energy flow visualization and consumption tracking, with real time telemetry and event notification capabilities feeding operational decision making. Visual Mesa Energy Management is being implemented alongside a Realtime Prod Organiser Operation Management solution that works with Energy Management Systems to monitor and optimise energy use, and it operates in concert with a separate Predictive Maintenance system that generates automated maintenance notifications when machinery requires attention.
Implementation is positioned within IOI’s broader digital ecosystem, which includes a full SAP platform that synchronises data across more than 100 business operating units and connects with electronic Plantation Monitoring, cashless payroll, RPA, GIS and IoT solutions. The initial rollout is focused on IOI Oleochemical sites, and the EMS is being integrated into workflows that consume plant telemetry and production data captured by the organisation’s RPA and smart device tooling.
Governance and rollout remain in early phases with staged operationalisation across sites, and the program is explicitly linked to IOI’s effort to reduce operational carbon emissions and costs through improved energy efficiency. The EMS implementation sits on IOI’s consolidated technology backbone that also supported remote work continuity during COVID 19, and IOI’s broader digital progress received external recognition from IDC.
