In 2019, IP Textilien implemented Linnworks Total Commerce in the Retail Management category. The initial implementation began during a Fall 2019 visit to Germany to integrate a custom 3D body scanning application that the company had been using since 2018, and the engagement evolved into a full time technology leadership role in 2020 to operate and extend the platform.
The deployment centered on a new B2B online shop built to manage uniform procurement for business customers, populated with customer locations, crew member records, role definitions such as captain waiter and chef, clothing collections, and position setup templates to streamline order capture and fulfillment. Functional capabilities implemented include centralized product and catalog management, customer location and crew member profiles, order orchestration for multi-person uniform orders, and API-driven population of customer data from spreadsheets.
Linnworks Total Commerce was integrated into a cloud-native architecture hosted on AWS using EC2 compute alongside serverless components such as AWS Lambda and AWS API Gateway, with Aurora Serverless providing relational storage. Google APIs were used to allow colleagues to maintain customer data in Google Sheets, Node.js scripts automated synchronization into the commerce platform, and the 3D body scanning app data was linked to the order model to capture precise measurements. Explicit system integrations include MarineXchange MXP for direct purchase order submission from cruise line customers, Orderhive as the ERP for order and inventory management, and a newly provisioned financial system for invoicing and payments.
Operational scope covered B2B sales and order processing for cruise line business customers and on-site crew scanning events, with governance centered on scripted data synchronization flows and application-level APIs to ensure consistent customer profile and order state across systems. Rollout and workflow changes were enacted through on-site events and direct coordination with cruise customers to capture measurement data and validate order submission into MXP, while ongoing platform management was handled by the in-house CTO and technical team.
