In 2018, Irish Distillers implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform. The project replaced SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and elements of APO, using a Smart Re-Use methodology to enable the company to pursue growth from 12 to 20 million cases per year while retaining existing bottling capacity and headcount.
The implementation concentrated on finance and supply chain planning capabilities, configuring SAP S/4 HANA to support exception based processes, automation, and broader digitalization of operational workflows. Irish Distillers and McCoy & Partners prioritized solutions that reduced custom code and leveraged standard S/4 HANA functional patterns, enabling targeted improvement programs in the finance domain and supply chain planning after go-live.
Architecturally the SAP S/4 HANA landscape was migrated to Microsoft Azure during the project, introducing a hyperscaler hosted deployment model for the SAP estate. The program also included coordination with local authorities and tax experts to design a compliance approach that avoided elevated import duties, reflecting an operational integration of external regulatory stakeholders into the project delivery.
Project governance emphasized remote collaboration with the Dublin project organization, earlier change request support, and intensive go-live preparation. The rollout reached production within budget and time despite COVID-19 constraints, with McCoy & Partners providing implementation continuity from pre go-live activity through cutover support.
Post go-live outcomes reported include a state of the art ERP landscape that underpins planned growth, cost reduction and automation of system administration, and access to hyperscaler operational benefits through the Microsoft Azure migration. Regulatory risk was actively managed through rapid coordination with tax authorities, and improvement programs in finance and supply chain planning were initiated on the SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial foundation.
