In 2015, Itron, Inc. implemented Oracle E-Business Suite. The Oracle E-Business Suite implementation targeted ERP Financial functions to centralize general ledger, close processes, budgeting and planning for corporate finance and FP&A teams.
Configuration extended integration points to enterprise planning and reporting capabilities using Hyperion components such as Essbase, Financial Data Quality Management FDMEE, Data Relationship Management DRM, Financial Reporting and Smart View to support budgeting, forecasting and consolidated reporting. The deployment emphasized monthly and year-end financial close management workflows, metadata management and master data hierarchies to ensure chart of accounts alignment. Technical configuration included Essbase calculation scripts, data forms and MaxL scripting to manage calculations and automated data loads.
Data movement and mapping were explicitly addressed through FDMEE, performing mapping exercises from local G L to the Hyperion chart of accounts and loading financial and statistical data into Essbase via data load files, Excel templates and Planning data forms. Integrations therefore spanned Oracle E-Business Suite financial ledgers to Hyperion Planning and Essbase for downstream reporting and analysis. Automation and operational scripts included MaxL, with supporting VB and Windows PowerShell scripts for task orchestration and system maintenance.
Operational ownership remained within finance and accounting, with analysts and FP&A personnel responsible for reconciliations, metadata governance and close orchestration. The implementation required collaboration with end users to diagnose system issues and adapt mapping and metadata, reflecting process changes in governance and data reconciliation workflows. Oracle E-Business Suite and Hyperion components were used together to create a governed financial reporting and planning stack under the ERP Financial category.
