In 2014 Kaufland engaged GEBIT Solutions Germany to deploy Gebit POS as its standardized Point Of Sale platform across international stores in Europe. The project was scoped to harmonize checkout processes and to enable flexible, platform based localizations so country specific regulatory and tax configurations could be applied without fragmenting the checkout estate.
The Gebit POS implementation encompassed core checkout and transaction processing, cashier user interfaces, receipt management, peripheral device management for scanners and printers, and a configuration framework for country specific adaptations and multi language support. Standard Point Of Sale capabilities were configured to support store level operations such as queued transaction handling and offline transaction buffering consistent with retail checkout workflows.
Architecturally the rollout used a centralized POS platform model delivered by GEBIT Solutions Germany with store level instantiation and local configuration profiles for each operating country. Integrations were implemented at the store edge for payment terminals and peripheral hardware, and the platform was designed to exchange configuration and transactional data with Kaufland central services and store reporting systems.
Governance of the program included standardized configuration templates, a controlled process for country specific localization, and a phased rollout across Kaufland regional operations in Europe. Operational ownership was assigned to retail IT and store operations teams, and the deployment positioned Gebit POS as Kaufland Point Of Sale infrastructure supporting retail checkout and store operations.
