Operational configuration included routines for reviewing and amending orders, and role-based workflows that connected merchant users to order correction and shipment processing tasks. Integrations were explicit and operational, Aptean Apparel ERP interfaced with Escalate for purchase order lifecycle management, exchanged messages through GXS Trading Grid, and operated in an environment where JDA warehousing system was used for distribution center execution. The implementation supported onboarding of new EDI trading partners and daily exchanges with vendors, using the GXS UPC catalog as a reference source for product identifiers and master data verification. Governance and process restructuring included a vendor standards manual authored by Kenneth Cole, formalized EDI processes for the merchant community, and extensive training programs to raise merchant and vendor knowledge of EDI and GXS UPC catalog practices. Operational scope covered merchant, vendor, DC teams, and shipment processing ownership, with a named point person model for vendor and merchant communications and ongoing onboarding of trading partners.
