In 2020, Kildare College deployed Softlink Oliver v5 Library as its core Library Management application for the Kildare Catholic College Learning Resource Centre. The implementation established Softlink Oliver v5 Library as the primary system for catalog search, classification and circulation to support student and teacher access to learning resources on campus and remotely.
The Softlink Oliver v5 Library configuration emphasizes cataloging and discovery modules, including a public online catalogue accessible via an OLIVER icon on the landing page of student and staff devices, integrated Dewey Decimal Classification browsing, and e-book download workflows. Functional capabilities described in the deployment include resource search, item borrowing and reciprocal borrowing management with partner institutions, e-resource linking for digital collections, and scheduled tutorials to support user adoption.
Operational integrations and resource linkages are surfaced directly from the OLIVER catalogue, linking users to named digital collections such as the ACEN Digital Member Collection, World Book with institution and remote IDs, Project Gutenberg and Project Gutenberg Australia, and JSTOR where institutional login credentials are required. The implementation also records a reciprocal borrowing arrangement with Charles Sturt University and exposes external learning and cyber safety resources through the catalogue, preserving centralized discovery while enabling external authentication for third party content.
Day to day governance and workflow are managed by the Learning Resource Centre team, with roles including Resource Centre Manager, Teacher Librarian Dr Cox-Townend, Digital Communications Officer, Textbook Manager Mr John Gowland, and IT Support Officer Mr Lance Vogt, alongside named support staff. Operational practices documented alongside the system include scheduled Wednesday tutorials for student assistance, digital citizenship and cyber safety guidance for students teachers and parents, and on-site access rules and supervision windows that align library operations with the Softlink Oliver v5 Library circulation and access controls.
