IFS Legacy IFS Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Manufacturing Execution System ERP Services and Operations Ibm 2022 2022
In 2022 Kobelco implemented IFS Manufacturing Execution System MES as part of a broader IFS Cloud deployment to improve responsiveness to customers and support customization management in the field. The program was scoped for 8,000 users across Kobelco operations in 11 countries, beginning with its home market in Japan, and targeted the full supply chain from procurement to manufacturing, sales and service management. The IFS Manufacturing Execution System MES implementation concentrated on manufacturing execution and configuration capabilities, with explicit support for customer specific configuration management and post sale service workflows. Configuration emphasized shop floor control, production orchestration and the integration of service management capabilities to manage individualized machine configurations and field customization across manufacturing and final assembly operations. Architecturally the deployment uses IFS Cloud as a single platform with a unified data model to provide cross functional visibility across procurement, production, logistics, final assembly, sales and service. Integration work was executed by IBM Japan, Ltd., the systems integrator on the program, coordinating connectivity and data flows between MES processes and broader enterprise functions within the IFS Cloud estate. Governance and rollout were organized as a phased regional deployment starting in Japan, with centralized configuration governance and implementation oversight provided jointly by IFS and IBM Japan. The stated outcomes include improved ability to respond to customers, increased market responsiveness and improved quality and speed of service, with the Manufacturing Execution System positioned to optimize Kobelco operations across production, supply chain management, logistics, final assembly, service and sales.
