SAP Legacy SAP R/3 ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2004 2004
In 2004, Kyocera Document Solutions implemented SAP R/3 as an ERP Financial system. The deployment was centered at the company headquarters in Tamatsukuri, Osaka, and targeted core supply chain and trade practice operations supporting domestic and overseas sales companies. SAP R/3 was configured to support order registration and management workflows used by domestic and overseas sales companies, shipping adjustment and delivery date management, and PSI plan analysis and supply and demand adjustment processes. The implementation linked transactional order flows to financial processing to align order management with accounts receivable and revenue posting workflows typical of an ERP Financial deployment. Operational coverage included headquarters based operations in Osaka and inbound PSI plan and order submissions from domestic and overseas sales companies, with SAP R/3 acting as the core system for order registration and cross‑functional coordination between sales, shipping, and supply planning. The system supported communication of delivery dates and shipping adjustments between sales entities and central operations, and it was used in day to day trade practice activities such as order entry and shipment control. Governance placed responsibility with SCM and trade practice process owners, who managed supply and demand adjustment and order lifecycle tasks inside SAP R/3. User adoption leveraged the companys established training by rank and practical training programs to upskill manufacturing, sales, and management staff on SAP R/3 procedures and operational responsibilities.

SAP Legacy SAP BusinessObjects Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, Kyocera Document Solutions implemented SAP BusinessObjects as part of a global Analytics and BI initiative that went live in May 2013, establishing an integrated analytics platform to accelerate decision making across its global sales and service organization. The deployment was driven by a need to centralize performance visibility for a company that sells in more than 140 countries with an overseas sales ratio above 90 percent, and to provide both current state business intelligence and forward-looking business analytics capabilities. The implementation architecture combined an in-memory layer and a high-capacity columnar store, with frequently accessed datasets staged in SAP HANA and historical, high-volume archives maintained in SAP IQ to optimize performance and cost. SAP BusinessObjects was used as the enterprise reporting and visualization layer, while data mining tools and SAP BusinessObjects analytics workflows supported predictive analytics and customer segmentation. Structured sources included SAP ERP performance data and CRM case records, and unstructured sources included printer and multifunction device telemetry, call center feedback, and field service maintenance reports, all brought into the integrated database for unified analysis. This program built on Kyocera Document Solutions existing SAP ERP and SAP Business Warehouse deployments in regional production and sales bases, integrating those operational systems with CRM, device telemetry, call center, and field service inputs into the new global data platform. The technical design emphasized a hierarchical storage model between SAP HANA and SAP IQ, centralized extract, transform, and load orchestration, and standardized global report formats delivered through SAP BusinessObjects to provide near real time visibility across sites. Operational governance focused on enabling sales, service, and field operations to use repeatable analytics in decision making, with the Business Strategy Division positioned as a principal steward of the analytics platform. Process changes included shortening analytical data preparation cycles and standardizing reporting formats across overseas bases, enabling more frequent simulation runs and consolidated global reporting. Explicit operational outcomes reported from the deployment include a reduction in analytical data source preparation from 8 weeks to 2 weeks, preprocessing time from 4 months to 2 months, and time to create analysis tables from 24 hours to 7 hours, with overseas reporting moving to near real time and a global standard format that is expected to reduce operating costs.
