| Sterling Talent Solutions | Legacy | Sterling Background Check | BackGround Screening | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 Latham & Watkins implemented Sterling Background Check to operationalize candidate screening within its global recruitment and onboarding workflows. Sterling Background Check is part of the BackGround Screening category and was used by the firm’s Global Talent Management team during staffed hiring and contract assignments.
Implementation focused on case initiation and orchestration of background checks, integrating screening workflows into recruiter and staffing assistant tasks. The deployment supported candidate intake, identity verification, criminal and employment verification workflows, status tracking, and candidate communications consistent with BackGround Screening functional expectations. Configuration included mapping request triggers from the Applicant Tracking System and formalizing screening request templates and notification rules.
Sterling Background Check integrated with the firm’s Applicant Tracking System, HireVue question sets, DocuSign for offer delivery, SilkRoad RedCarpet for onboarding handoffs, and calendar coordination via Microsoft Outlook, while staffing agencies were part of the intake channel. The deployment operated across US and European offices and interfaced with Guest and Technology Services to align interview logistics and remote interview room setup. The implementation also ran alongside HireRight for certain checks, indicating parallel vendor usage for screening services.
Operational governance codified workflows where Staffing Specialists initiated conflicts and background checks and routed results to Global Talent Management and regional HR offices, with feedback loops to hiring managers, directors, chiefs, and partners. The system supported coordination of international interviews and new hire onboarding through integrated handoffs to SilkRoad RedCarpet and internal stakeholders. Controls emphasized case ownership, status transparency, and standardized request procedures for recruiting, HR, and technology teams.
