| FIS Global | Legacy | FIS Integrated Payables | AP Automation | ERP | n/a | 2017 | 2018 |
LG&E and KU Energy implemented FIS Integrated Payables in 2017 to centralize accounts payable processing, using the FIS Integrated Payables solution within their AP Automation stack. The deployment was positioned to align accounts payable and treasury workflows under a single vendor platform from FIS Global, with early emphasis on invoice-to-pay orchestration and payment orchestration capabilities.
Configuration focused on core AP Automation capabilities including electronic invoice capture and validation, automated approval routing, payment orchestration for ACH and wire rails, and exception handling and vendor inquiry workflows. The FIS Integrated Payables implementation was configured to support bank connectivity, payment scheduling, and automated reconciliation workflows that are typical for utility-scale payable volumes and ratepayer-oriented controls.
The implementation was aligned with existing FIS technology in use by the finance organization, notably the FIS Quantum subledger system referenced in treasury operations, enabling tighter handoffs between subledger cash records and payables transactions. Integration points included mapping payables transactions into the corporate general ledger and subledger workflows, and consolidating bank fee and transaction data for treasury review and payment lifecycle visibility.
Operational ownership rested with treasury and accounts payable teams, reflecting a shift toward centralized payment governance, standardized approval policies, and stronger controls around KYC and banking relationships used in corporate financing activities. Rollout emphasis was on instrumenting payment controls, improving reconciliation discipline, and embedding AP Automation processes into finance and treasury operational procedures.

| Hitachi Vantara | Legacy | Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite | Asset Performance Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2011 | 2012 |
In 2011 LG&E and KU Energy deployed Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite as an Asset Performance Management solution to centralize asset lifecycle and condition monitoring capabilities across the Work and Asset Management division. The deployment was executed under a five year technology vision and program management discipline, with a centralized team of 30 plus FTEs and contractors responsible for outage, storm, work management, asset management, and GIS product portfolios.
Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite was configured to deliver core Asset Performance Management functions, including asset registry and hierarchy, condition-based monitoring, risk and inspection planning, and work order integration with field service workflows. Configuration emphasized integration with mobile work assignment and GPS navigation so field technicians could receive and update work orders, reconcile inventory, and capture customer and spatial data in real time.
The implementation leveraged an API and ESB MQ interface pattern to standardize data sharing across vendor products, and governance used CA API Manager to provide reusable REST and SOAP service endpoints. Integrations referenced in the program included existing enterprise systems managed by the Work and Asset Management team, such as Oracle operations and financial interfaces, IBM Maximo, CGI ARM, ABB Service Suite, and GIS systems, with services exposed for mobile applications and backend orchestration.
Operational governance blended Agile, DevSecOps, and continuous integration delivery practices to sustain the Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite implementation, with build versus buy analysis and formal RFP and vendor selection processes driving architecture decisions. The program also centralized SOA governance, unified Oracle Fusion and .NET web services under consistent standards, and applied containerization and orchestration practices for mobile and API services to improve deployment consistency.
As part of the broader asset and outage modernization program that included Hitachi Ventyx FocalPoint Suite, mobile applications were successfully rolled out to more than 1600 field technicians to assign and complete work orders and synchronize inventory and customer records. The overall program also delivered a distribution automation project that reduced restore time from 22 minutes to 4 seconds in deployed areas, illustrating how the Asset Performance Management deployment operated within a wider automation and field mobility initiative.
