Incoming electronic invoices that reference purchase orders are automatically validated in the materials management module MM, using order-based three-way matching logic configured in SAP R/3. Electronic invoices that arrive without an order reference are routed through an OpenText directed invoice verification workflow, processed through invoice verification, and then booked in the financial module FI/CO where they are released for payment according to configured authorization steps.
Business partner master data and message orchestration are integrated using the SAP XI/PI integration platform, and Lindt & Sprungli receives electronic invoices from SIX Paynet directly in SAP IDoc format, for which the exact IDoc structure and required content were defined as part of the implementation. Archived invoice storage is handled by the IXOS archiving solution from OpenText, and the signature test of archived electronic invoices is performed online via a signature test service offered by Six Paynet, preserving the electronic signature verification in the archive retrieval process.
Operational governance centers on the invoice verification workflow and FI/CO release controls, with automated MM checks separating order-matched transactions from exception handling. The SAP R/3 implementation for ERP Financial therefore combines materials management automation, OpenText-directed exception workflows, XI/PI integrations for partner messaging, and IXOS archival plus external signature validation to sustain end-to-end invoice processing and posting.
