In 2019, Line Plast Group migrated its SAP Business One application to Amazon Web Services in a project executed by Kitsilano Technologies, aligning the deployment with the company’s ERP Financial requirements. SAP Business One remains the core application, with the engagement focused on stabilizing transactional performance and enabling scalable infrastructure for Line Plast Group’s packaging operations.
Kitsilano Technologies provisioned a dedicated r5.xlarge Amazon EC2 instance to host the Microsoft SQL database with a 300GB Amazon EBS volume, and separated the application layer by placing SAP Business One and an Active Directory server on a separate m5.2xlarge EC2 instance with a 200GB EBS volume. This two-tier EC2 architecture created clear compute and storage boundaries between database and service layers, reducing resource contention and simplifying capacity planning for the ERP Financial environment.
The implementation preserved SAP Business One functional workflows typical to an ERP Financial system, including database-backed transaction processing, application service orchestration, and AD based authentication for role and access control. Storage management and automated snapshotting were integrated into the operational model to support consistent backups and recovery of transactional and master data.
Backup and disaster recovery were implemented using regular EBS snapshots stored on Amazon S3 Standard IA with a 30 day retention policy, providing recoverability of critical SAP Business One data. The scope of the rollout covered Line Plast Group’s corporate IT and packaging operations in Kenya, and included infrastructure provisioning, backup orchestration, and cutover coordination managed by Kitsilano Technologies.
The migration delivered explicit operational outcomes described by the customer, including a 40 percent improvement in system performance, reduced maintenance costs, and the ability to accommodate a 30 percent increase in data volume without performance degradation. The persistent snapshot to S3 Standard IA enabled a successful recovery scenario under the defined 30 day retention window, improving business continuity for the SAP Business One ERP Financial environment.

| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Legacy | Amazon EC2 | Application Hosting and Computing Services | IaaS | Kitsilano Technologies | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, Line Plast Group migrated its on premise SAP Business One and Microsoft SQL Database environment to Amazon EC2 as part of an Application Hosting and Computing Services deployment led by Kitsilano Technologies. The engagement relocated the customer database and application tiers to AWS EC2 instances to address scalability and maintenance cost pressures that were affecting day to day operations.
Kitsilano Technologies provisioned an r5.xlarge Amazon EC2 instance to host the Microsoft SQL database with a 300GB Amazon EBS volume, and a separate m5.2xlarge Amazon EC2 instance to host SAP Business One and the Active Directory Server with a 200GB EBS volume. The architecture enforces tier separation between the service layer and the database layer to prevent resource contention, and EBS snapshots were used as the core backup mechanism.
Backups were automated with regular EBS snapshots stored on Amazon S3 Standard IA with a 30 day retention policy to support disaster recovery and point in time restores of critical data. Operational coverage included the SAP Business One application stack, the SQL database, and Active Directory, impacting core ERP operations and transactional workflows across the organization.
Governance and rollout were executed by Kitsilano Technologies, including instance sizing, storage configuration, and snapshot scheduling to stabilize performance under peak loads. The Amazon EC2 implementation produced documented results, including a reported 40 percent improvement in system performance, ability to accommodate a 30 percent increase in data volume without degradation, reduced maintenance costs, and successful recovery from a data loss incident using the 30 day snapshot retention.
