In 2022 Lowe'S launched a multi-year Finance Technology Modernization program to replace Oracle PeopleSoft ERP with Oracle Cloud ERP as the companywide financial system. The initiative positions Oracle Cloud ERP at the center of the ERP Financial program and establishes a Core ERP and Financial Data Management workstream led by a director responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams and program-level decisions.
The Core ERP workstream is organized into three functional teams covering General Ledger and Core ERP modules including Fixed Assets, Project Accounting, Cash Management, and Accounts Receivable, an Oracle Cloud ERP Administrator function, and a Finance and Accounting Data Hub business lead. These teams own technology selection, requirements definition, system configuration, user acceptance testing, implementation support and operational handoff, master data governance, and issue resolution for Oracle Cloud ERP Financials.
Workstream scope explicitly includes integration design and testing to and from retail services systems, GL integrations with financial subledgers and operational databases, and the design and validation of data sources for the Finance and Accounting data hubs. The program directs alignment and engagement with Retail Merchandising Controller, Retail Operations Controller, and accounting directors, and impacts core Finance and Accounting operating processes and reporting workflows.
Governance activities include redesign of financial processes to reflect retail accounting best practices, implementation of system access controls, financial data quality checks for integrations, metadata governance, and general ledger data validations. The deployment positioned the application as the operational backbone for field service orchestration within Lowe'S retail service operations, aligning workforce scheduling, dispatch, and work order lifecycle management with store and home service workflows.
The implementation emphasized core Field Service Management modules, including advanced scheduling and dispatch, work order orchestration, mobile technician applications, service-level agreement enforcement, parts and inventory coordination, and field service analytics. Configuration work focused on rule-based dispatching, skills and territory modeling, offline-capable mobile apps for technicians, and service job templates to standardize common repair and installation workflows.
Architecturally the solution was deployed as a cloud-hosted SaaS instance of Salesforce Field Service (ex ClickSoftware) and integrated with Lowe'S broader Salesforce ecosystem to align customer records, service histories, and case escalation paths. Integrations extended to mobile workforce endpoints and backend inventory systems to enable parts reservation and technician-first-time-fix workflows, while telemetry and reporting feeds supported operational dashboards for service managers.
Governance and rollout included program management, executive reporting, and a trained delivery framework for project managers to standardize deployment and operations. The program referenced a project management delivery framework that was created, trained, and rolled out to Global Project Managers, with documented improvements in revenue, billable utilization, and gross margin observed across engagements where the framework was applied.
