| NewStore | Legacy | NewStore Platform | Retail Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021 Marine Layer implemented the NewStore Platform, deploying a cloud-based Retail Management solution to unify its physical and digital channels. The NewStore Platform natively combines point of sale, order management, inventory, and clienteling in a single application and serves as the master for store inventory functions. Deployment covered Marine Layer's network of 47 stores nationwide and the direct to consumer ecommerce channel.
As configured for Marine Layer, NewStore Platform provided available to promise stock across the enterprise, and native modules for cycle counting, receiving, transfers, and endless aisle order capture. Store associates received real time inventory visibility through the POS client, enabling in-store fulfillment, endless aisle sales, and local order orchestration. The platform centralized store inventory as the definitive source of truth while exposing stock to all ordering channels to enable omnichannel fulfillment.
NewStore integrated EasyPost to power shipping and carrier management, using EasyPost's Shipping API, Rating API, and Tracking API, with carrier options including FedEx, USPS, UPS, and Canada Post. The EasyPost integration allowed Marine Layer to ship from store for online and endless aisle orders, print return labels at point of sale, file customs paperwork online for international shipments, and offer same day shipping carrier options where available. Operational governance included a single EasyPost enterprise account capable of managing unlimited carrier accounts and mapping them to cost centers by location, and training store associates to execute receiving, transfers, returns, and store fulfillment workflows. As an explicit outcome, 15 percent of Marine Layer ecommerce orders are shipped from one of its stores, and 5 percent of weekly store sales originate from endless aisle orders.
