In 2000 Marston's implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial deployment to extend its Warehouse Management footprint into the companys main Bonded Warehouse, to introduce MRP, and to deliver enhancements to Sales and Distribution. The implementation explicitly covered SAP WM with IM, MM, MRP, FI and SD modules to support inventory control, materials planning, financial posting and order to cash processes in a consumer packaged goods operating context.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 build included a significant bespoke technical program. The engagement was responsible for SAP technical development including ABAP development, custom Forms, system enhancements, SAP Mobile and RF development, Internet Services and interactive ALV front ends. The delivery included loading Material Master data into SAP using LSMW and ABAP, creation of 25 new custom SAP transactions, WM configuration and development of two bespoke RF screens with published Internet Services for SAP Mobile RF handheld guns, six new Forms for label and page printing and six LSMW projects along with multiple enhancements to existing SAP functionality.
Integrations and process coverage were focused on outbound logistics and warehouse operations. Two RFC interfaces were developed to integrate with the Zetes Voice-Picking Solution, and bespoke development addressed labelling, put away strategy and bin determination, RF framework configuration, exception handling, picking, system guided and ad hoc replenishment, and outbound logistics processes. Operational scope included warehouse operations, bonded warehouse handling, inventory management, materials planning and sales order execution.
The project progressed from blueprinting through to go-live and provided immediate post go-live support, with Capita project work present during delivery. Governance centered on technical ownership of SAP development and data migration activities, handover of RF and mobile services for warehouse teams, and stabilization support following production cutover.

In 2015, Marston's deployed SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as its Data Warehouse, reflecting the companys extensive use and experience of BI and BW systems. The implementation positioned SAP BW as the central repository for consolidated reporting and analytics across the enterprise, aligning with business intelligence objectives for repeatable, governed reporting.
The SAP BW (Business Warehouse) implementation emphasized canonical data modeling and semantic query layers typical of Data Warehouse projects, including InfoProviders, DataStore Objects, and InfoCubes configured to support aggregated and detailed reporting. Process chains and scheduled load orchestration were used to automate ETL workflows and maintain refresh cadence, while BW query models were exposed to reporting consumers and downstream analytics processes.
Operational coverage focused on enterprise reporting workflows that served core business functions, with datasets consolidated from sales, inventory and financial feeds to create a single analytical fabric. Governance and operational controls were implemented through model versioning, transport management and scheduled process monitoring to support day to day BI operations and sustain the documented experience Marston's has with BI and BW systems.
