In 2018, MBSB Bank Berhad engaged Silverlake Axis to implement Silverlake Symmetri Core Banking as part of a post-acquisition systems consolidation following the rebranding of Asian Finance Bank to MBSB Bank. The Core Banking program was scoped to enable a unified Shariah compliant transaction platform for retail, SME and corporate customers of the merged banking entity.
Implementation activities centered on converting MBSB’s conventional Silverlake Axis Integrated Banking Solution SIBS to the Silverlake Axis Islamic Integrated Banking Solution SIIBS, and subsequently migrating Asian Finance Bank’s core banking into SIIBS. Functional configuration work aligned with Core Banking workflows, including product and account processing for Islamic deposit and financing products, customer master consolidation, transaction posting and core ledger integration, with Silverlake Symmetri Core Banking serving as the principal application control plane for these capabilities.
The program incorporated digital solutions from Cyber Village Sdn Bhd, Silverlake Digitale Sdn Bhd and Silverlake One Paradigm Sdn Bhd to drive Shariah-compliant digital innovations, indicating integration points between the core ledger and customer-facing digital channels. Operational coverage targeted retail, SME and corporate business functions across the merged MBSB Bank, with SIIBS designated as the core transaction hub for the combined entity.
Governance and rollout were phased to complete conversion and migration within a 12 month schedule beginning after the April 2018 transfer of assets and liabilities, with confidentiality clauses limiting public disclosure of detailed design and commercial terms. The contract was expected to contribute positively to Silverlake Axis Ltd results for financial year 2018 and subsequent financial years, as stated by the vendor.
