| Docuware, a Ricoh Company | Legacy | DocuWare Invoice Processing | AP Automation | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2013 | 2013 |
In 2013 McBride & Son Contracting Co. deployed DocuWare Invoice Processing. The DocuWare Invoice Processing implementation is an AP Automation deployment installed on premises to support Accounting and HR across seven regional offices and affiliated business units including Builder’s Bloc Contracting, addressing electronic capture and centralized storage needs for invoices, check images and personnel files to meet state and federal compliance requirements.
Configuration work emphasized automated invoice workflow and document indexing, with electronic content folders on desktops that surface invoices requiring approval. Annotations, job code stamps and approval stamps are digitally applied to invoice images and then automatically routed through defined approval sequences. Detailed job code indexing links invoices to projects and properties and DocuWare Invoice Processing retains images of paid checks alongside invoices to create a consolidated payable record.
The architecture operated on premises and integrated with Citrix for desktop access and a shared accounting program used by regional offices, enabling bidirectional information flow between the invoice repository and accounting workflows. Central storage and indexed metadata enabled targeted searches to assemble all invoices for a property, supporting lien filing timelines and product recall response activities. Index driven monitoring was configured to surface the last date of work on a property based on invoice criteria.
Governance centered on digitized approval workflows and an auditable trail that allowed accounting staff to monitor approvals and strengthen internal controls, reducing manual routing and hard copy handling. HR centralized personnel file storage in DocuWare to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations while preserving access controls in the on premises environment. Andrea Templeton, Corporate Controller, reported that McBride achieved 15 percent revenue growth over two years and managed that growth without adding staff as a result of their investment in technology and DocuWare, and she noted employees were able to observe the return on investment from the system.

In 2000, McBride & Son Contracting Co. implemented Sage 300CRE (ex Timberline) as its Construction ERP to centralize estimating, accounting, job cost and payroll workflows across the organization. The deployment was positioned to support bid management and project delivery for residential, commercial and military foundation and flatwork projects ranging from $2,000 to $2.5 million, and to formalize communications with general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
The Sage 300CRE (ex Timberline) implementation encompassed core modules including Estimating, Accounting, Job Cost, A/P, A/R, Billings and Payroll, with Report Designer used for custom reporting. Functional activities covered creation of takeoff quantity and material lists, recording commitments for concrete and specialty orders, creation of invoices and VPOs from foremen field reports, P and L procedure and analysis for the Foundation Division, and review of labor time and payroll entries.
The system was integrated operationally with desktop productivity and estimating tools explicitly used by staff, including MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Access, a digitizer and On Screen Takeoff software, with the organization initiating purchase and onboarding of OST to streamline takeoff exports into estimating. Operational coverage included support for Contract Administration staff across five separate county zones, ongoing reporting of bid and project status to multiple area managers, and collaboration with superintendents for bid evaluation and post mortem job reviews.
Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, with formal training of new estimating staff on Timberline Estimating and Accounting workflows, standardization of export formats for contract data, and delegation of responsibilities for commitments, timekeeping reviews and contract pricing maintenance. The implementation institutionalized end to end construction finance and estimating practices within the Construction ERP, aligning estimating, contract administration and field reporting processes under a consistent system.

The implementation placed a web‑embedded chat widget on mcbridehomes.com as the primary conversational entry point, positioning LiveChat to capture inbound inquiries and qualify leads through the site channel. Deployment emphasized front‑end conversational tooling and on‑site visitor engagement rather than backend system change, supporting the companys digital customer contact path.
Configuration leveraged core LiveChat capabilities common to Chatbots and Conversational AI deployments, including live agent chat, proactive chat invitations, canned responses, visitor monitoring, and transcript capture to support consistent response workflows. Operational scope focused on sales and customer service functions, with the LiveChat application used by web channel agents to handle inquiries and hand off follow up tasks according to existing internal processes and governance.
