Workday Legacy Workday Absence Management Absence and Leave Management HCM n/a 2019 2019
In 2019 McMaster-Carr implemented Workday Absence Management as part of its Absence and Leave Management adoption for workforce administration and leave tracking. The deployment was executed within the company Workday footprint maintained by the People Systems function, reflecting internal ownership by HR and People Systems roles that participated on the Workday implementation team beginning in 2019. Workday Absence Management was configured to support standard absence plans, eligibility rules, accrual processing, approval workflows, and absence events, with the Workday Absence Management application embedded into established HR processes. Configuration work aligned absence types and time-off workflows to payroll and time tracking requirements and leveraged Workday security and reporting constructs for role based access and auditability. The implementation integrated directly with existing Workday modules used by McMaster-Carr, including Time Tracking, Payroll, Benefits, Reporting, and Security, enabling end-to-end absence-to-pay and absence reporting flows. Integrations were implemented at the application and data level inside the Workday tenant to preserve centralized master data for workers and to enable consolidated absence reporting across HR and payroll functions. Governance and operational ownership were centralized in the People Systems team, which managed configuration changes, compliance configuration for leave policies, and structured approval matrices for managers and HR administrators. Ongoing operations emphasized role based controls, reporting governance, and coordination between HR, Payroll, and People Systems to sustain absence and leave administration.
