In 2017 Medtronic Singapore implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment targeted APAC supply chain and finance workflows within the PLAN & DELIVER workstream, supporting planning, procurement, inventory accounting, and executive reporting for commercial and operations teams.
SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was configured to provide core financial management capabilities, including FI and CO financial posting, procurement transaction flows, master data governance, and reporting used to inform supply chain decisions. Functional initiatives referenced in the implementation included Capable to Match CTM and CGEN as system enhancement projects for the PLAN & DELIVER workstream, and the platform produced dashboards and reports for APAC Supply Chain Leadership. Subject matter expertise in SAP APO SNP, DP, ECC and JDA Manugistics shaped configuration, testing, and training strategies.
The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation was integrated operationally with SAP APO and JDA Manugistics to align demand planning, SNP and distribution planning with financial postings and inventory valuation. Operational coverage extended across APAC markets supporting the Neurovascular and Airways portfolio of more than 1600 SKUs for 21 countries, including vendor capacity coordination, intercompany returns handling, and phase in phase out planning for acquired business lines. Master data setup and system testing were coordinated with IT and regional planners to ensure transactional integrity and end user readiness.
Governance was executed through APAC project leadership and supply chain project analysts who owned testing, master data controls, rollout sequencing, and trainer enablement for ECC and APO capabilities. Explicit outcomes tied to system and process work included a systematic review process that reduced time on multi echelon safety stock calculation by 40% and decreased defects by 18%, a linear optimization model that saved 8 man hours per week, inventory optimization of $1.1M across APAC, and a reduction in backorders valued at $600K. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 served as the core ERP Financial backbone connecting supply chain planning and finance across Medtronic Singapore operations.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 Medtronic Singapore implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR system. The deployment established a centralized HR Shared Services model for APAC, supporting HR operations across ANZ, Southeast Asia, Korea, India subcontinent and Japan while directly supporting APAC payroll operations for Korea, Myanmar, Australia and Japan. Workday HCM functioned as the authoritative HR platform for employee data, case management handoffs, and regional HR workflows.
Configured modules included core worker and position management, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits administration and HR reporting, reflecting standard Core HR capabilities. The implementation also supported interfacing with time and attendance inputs and payroll adjacencies to capture base pay, stock compensation and statutory deductions. Workday HCM was used by HR Shared Services staff as the primary system for verification of employment, HR inquiries and HR data maintenance.
Operational integrations were explicitly managed alongside ServiceNow for case and integration incident management, and with Kronos time tracking where integration errors required remediation. Payroll execution involved partnerships with inhouse country providers and global payroll vendors including ADP streamline, ADP Celergo, Cloudpay and UKG Kronos, coordinated through the Workday HCM centered HR processes. The team built integration case management in ServiceNow to collaborate with IT stakeholders on time tracking and payroll exceptions.
Governance and process restructuring included APAC Payroll continuous improvement responsibilities, adoption of Lean Six Sigma A3 methodology and establishment of a MOS strategy board to align regional payroll standards. Operational controls covered remote management of year-end tax settlement events and development of backup processes and standard checklists for Japan payroll cycles. The rollout prioritized stabilization of new country payrolls such as Myanmar and structured coordination between HR Shared Services, inhouse country providers and global payroll vendors.

In 2018, Medtronic Singapore deployed IBM Maximo as an Enterprise Asset Management application to support global manufacturing equipment integration and process control initiatives. The IBM Maximo implementation targeted global manufacturing operations, focusing on computerized maintenance management and operational asset governance across multiple manufacturing sites.
The implementation emphasized Enterprise Asset Management capabilities common to CMMS deployments, including centralized asset registry, work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, and maintenance execution workflows. IBM Maximo was positioned as the CMMS component within a broader manufacturing systems stack to standardize maintenance procedures and enable consistent maintenance lifecycle processes.
The program operated alongside a manufacturing systems evaluation that explicitly included Equipment Automation Program candidates, IoT Platform candidates such as PTC Kepware, Telit deviceWISE and Software AG Cumulocity, CMMS options including IBM Maximo, AMAT Xsite and IndySoft, recipe management systems and time series databases. IBM Maximo was integrated into the harmonized roadmap for equipment integration and process control, and the effort supported factory automation outcomes including a closed loop control system deployed to the Warsaw manufacturing facility and participation in a Smart Digital Factory pilot in Galway.
Governance was driven by global manufacturing IT and OT leaders who worked to synergize IT and OT workforce capabilities, define resource requirements and technical architecture, and share best practices with manufacturing technology teams. The project centered on establishing a harmonised system roadmap, aligning maintenance and operations workflows, and embedding IBM Maximo as the Enterprise Asset Management backbone for equipment integration and process control initiatives.
