TechnologyOne Legacy TechnologyOne ERP ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2016 2016
In 2016 Melbourne Water Corporation implemented TechnologyOne ERP as an ERP Financial solution to refresh its core finance and procurement capabilities. The TechnologyOne ERP implementation was led from the business side with the objective of delivering a vastly improved Finance and Procurement system, supporting improved processes, enhanced user experience and a new chart of accounts to maximise benefit from the financial management system. The deployment focused on configuring Finance and Procurement modules within TechnologyOne ERP, including a redesigned chart of accounts and embedded budgeting capabilities through Enterprise Budgeting in TechnologyOne. The program included the Accounts Payable Automation initiative, centralisation of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable workflows, and configuration of insurance program administrative processes, reflecting typical ERP Financial functional coverage across ledgers, payables, receivables and procurement. TechnologyOne ERP was deployed in parallel with existing corporate reporting tools used for corporate plan consolidation, where Prophix enhancements had previously been delivered to accelerate reporting and forecasting. Operational coverage targeted the finance organisation and wider business stakeholders, with the implementation touching corporate planning, budgeting and reporting streams, accounts teams and procurement, and supported manager coaching and adoption activities to embed new performance and capability frameworks. Governance was driven by a named business lead who managed stakeholder relationships and supplier engagement, evaluated processes against strategy to define required system functionality, and steered rollout and continuous improvement activities. Explicit outcomes described by the program include improved finance and procurement processes, an enhanced user experience in TechnologyOne ERP and a new chart of accounts intended to maximise value from the financial management system.

IBM Legacy IBM Maximo Application Suite Enterprise Asset Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2013 2013
In 2013, Melbourne Water Corporation began using the IBM Maximo Application Suite. The deployment leverages IBM Maximo Application Suite for Enterprise Asset Management to automate visual inspection workflows for stormwater grate maintenance at trial locations, targeting pit grate blockage detection and inspection process automation. The implementation uses IBM Maximo Health, IBM Maximo Monitor and IBM Maximo Visual Inspection as core functional modules, with software management strategies adopted out of the box. Melbourne Water developed image recognition and AI tools within the Maximo Visual Inspection capability to detect and classify blockages, positioning the solution to evolve toward a fully automated AI inspection pipeline. Still image cameras were installed at trial sites and connected to Melbourne Water’s IoT platform, forming a network of integrated solutions that feed imagery into Maximo modules. The overall image recognition system was deployed on IBM Cloud, using a SaaS monitor product extended with IBM Cloud services and components to provision and scale compute and model hosting from the cloud catalog. Operational scope focused on stormwater operations and asset management teams responsible for pit grate inspections, executed as an internal project without engaging an external implementation vendor. Governance emphasized close collaboration with IBM for product capability alignment and ongoing support, and Melbourne Water cited out-of-the-box deployment simplicity and IBM support as key benefits while continuing phased development of AI recognition models.
