In 2018, MLC School Sydney deployed Celcat Timetabler as part of its Education ERP footprint. The Celcat Timetabler implementation centralized timetabling and scheduling functions under the Studies Office, targeting years 6 through 12, teacher rostering, and event scheduling.
Implementation work focused on configuring timetable generation, teacher and class rostering, room allocation and exam scheduling, and integrating teacher absence workflows into daily cover processes. The Studies Office used Celcat Timetabler for class and teacher record management, subject selection data entry, and to produce timetables used by teaching staff and administrative schedulers. Automated scheduling capabilities and rule-based allocation were applied to manage casual staff assignments and cover arrangements.
Operational integrations included explicit data entry and operational linkage with NESA, Denbigh, SEQTA and Engage alongside Celcat Timetabler, reflecting a coordinated data flow for student subject selections, academic profiles and class lists. The Studies Office also retained responsibility for outreach SMS administration, automating absence texts and broadcasting messages, which operated alongside timetabling processes to support daily attendance and absence handling.
Governance and rollout were administered from the Studies Office, with the Studies Office Administrator and Curriculum Administrator training new staff on timetable and absence procedures, maintaining electronic filing and reporting, and overseeing day to day schedule updates. The implementation emphasized role based administration, documented teacher absence entry and cover workflows, and integration of timetabling activities into existing reporting and parent engagement tasks such as Parent Teacher event scheduling.
