In 2012 NAF implemented Intuit Quickbooks Enterprise as its ERP Financial application to centralize core accounting for the organization. The deployment targeted the finance and accounting function within this United States based education nonprofit of roughly 120 employees, with Intuit Quickbooks Enterprise serving as the primary ledger, transaction and reporting engine.
Configuration work emphasized standard ERP Financial capabilities including general ledger configuration, chart of accounts harmonization, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable workflows, bank reconciliation and financial reporting structures. Implementation activities included chart of accounts design, transactional posting rules, period close procedures and configuration of reporting hierarchies to support organizational budgeting and financial controls.
Operational rollout included planning for a data conversion effort, and NAF engaged temporary accounting resources to assist with conversions from Quickbooks to Timberline, focusing on data extraction, mapping of account structures, validation of transactional history and cutover reconciliation. Governance centered on finance team ownership of reconciliations and staged testing cycles, with configuration lock periods and coordinated cutover windows to minimize disruption to month end close activities.
