The deployment was conducted in parallel with a formal collaboration between Nanyang Polytechnic, SAP and Singapore Computer Systems Limited to embed SAP NetWeaver technology into curriculum and to support student-led development of enterprise solutions using service oriented architecture principles.
The implementation scope included SAP ERP ECC 6.0 functional coverage of FI and FICO capabilities, general ledger, budgeting and funds control, and procurement modules, together with HCM capabilities such as Organization Management, Personnel Administration, Time Management and the Talent Management suite including appraisal, recruitment, learning and compensation features. Configuration and extensibility work reflected hands-on areas identified in source requirements, including ABAP and WebDynpro development, workflow configuration and system-level integration points driven by SAP NetWeaver.
Integrations were scoped to support connections with agency finance systems and other business applications used in shared HR, finance and procurement contexts, leveraging enterprise SOA patterns and SAP NetWeaver as the technical foundation for service enablement. The Enterprise Technology Innovation Centre initiative simultaneously trained more than 1,000 students over a multi-year period, using mySAP and NetWeaver platforms to involve learners in real-life projects that develop enterprise solutions for SAP customers across industries.
Operational governance emphasized shared service delivery and lifecycle management, with responsibilities for supplier engagement, post-implementation support, software patches and upgrades, disaster recovery and adherence to service levels, policies and standards. Business analysis and change governance included requirements management, validation of change requests for quality and maintainability, and recommendations to streamline processes within the shared ERP Financial and HCM environment.
