In 2019 National Coatings implemented Explorer Eclipse Construction ERP to consolidate accounting, compliance, and reporting across six multi-state divisions. The deployment used vendor Explorer Software and was scoped to support a 15-employee firm in the construction and real estate industry, with finance leadership including the Assistant Financial Controller driving requirements. Implementation priorities emphasized financial control and auditability rather than broad operational modules outside finance.
Configuration work focused on core financial modules within Explorer Eclipse, including General Ledger, Fixed Assets management, Accounts Payable, and reporting automation to support monthly financial statements, year-end closings, and budget projections. The project included setup of workers compensation audit workflows and reconciliation routines to correct fixed asset market value and depreciation, and custom accounting reports were built for Explorer Eclipse to meet statutory and internal reporting needs. These configurations were aligned to multi-division chart of accounts and close calendar requirements.
Data migration consolidated records from SAGE and Explorer into Explorer Eclipse, transferring vendor and subcontractor invoice histories and payment term data to preserve accounts payable workflows. Operational coverage centered on finance, accounts payable, and regulatory compliance across six divisions and multiple states, with the system supporting invoice management for multiple vendors and subcontractors. Integration activity was limited to the accounting record conversion and custom report feeds into the Explorer Eclipse reporting layer.
Governance and process changes included standardized reconciliation procedures, recurring general ledger and workers comp audit processes, and tighter controls around month end close and year-end closing routines. Rollout activities emphasized collaboration between finance staff and system administrators to embed custom reports and to operationalize new close workflows. Ongoing administration responsibilities remained with finance leadership to maintain reporting accuracy and audit readiness.
