In 2015, National Law University, Delhi implemented TCS iON Digital Campus as an Education ERP to centralize and automate campus administration. The deployment used a cloud based delivery model with remote web and mobile accessibility, and Tata Consultancy Services provided implementation services and ongoing support for the Campus Management System.
The implementation encompassed core functional modules including examination management and grading, HRMS with leave management, accounts, store and inventory, hostel and guest house management, attendance tracking, and timetable optimization. TCS iON Digital Campus also delivered personnel management capabilities, recruitment and application maintenance workflows, and a PVC community module to facilitate faculty and student interaction, with most modules live and additional modules under implementation.
Architecturally the solution created a centralized data repository with interoperability and integration capabilities to connect student systems, financial applications and other campus databases, enabling 24x7 access and scalability. Multichannel communication capabilities were enabled for e mail, text messaging and letters, and self service portals gave students access to relevant information across the student lifecycle.
Governance and process redesign accompanied the technical rollout, with workflow capability introduced to enforce checks and balances, and rights based access management applied through user defined roles. Reporting configuration and just in time reporting were implemented to support executive and operational decision making, and the University reported satisfaction with TCS staff during complete implementation of the Campus Management System.
Outcomes documented by the University include streamlined business processes, automated personnel and academic management, simplified reporting and a more coherent 360 degree view of the student lifecycle. The implementation improved data availability, reliability and scalability while enabling on demand reporting and proactive operational actions.
