In 2020, Navient implemented Oracle Cloud ERP, deploying the Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM Cloud as its ERP Financial solution. The implementation was led by Navient's Managing Director, Financial Systems, who manages a cross functional financial systems team supporting the CFO organization. That team provides systems support for Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM, Principia, and PeopleSoft Treasury, and the program emphasized standardized business processes and a controlled operating environment across the enterprise.
The Oracle Cloud ERP deployment included configuration and automation of general ledger, procurement, and purchasing modules as core functional capabilities, with Oracle Fusion EPM used for planning and financial management functions. Implementation work focused on configuring ledgers, procurement and purchasing workflows, and consolidating financial process ownership to create consistent accounting and procurement operations.
Integrations connected Oracle Cloud ERP to Principia and PeopleSoft Treasury, and the financial systems integration lead managed consolidation activities for corporate acquisitions to achieve a single controlled operating environment for subsidiaries. The cross functional scope centered on the CFO organization and acquisition integration, and the program engaged implementation partner Calfrac Well Services on the delivery team.
Governance was maintained through the Corporate Strategic Initiatives committee and centralized ownership under the Managing Director, Financial Systems, which reinforced best practices and process standardization. The rollout was executed with stakeholders, partners, and end users working remotely due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the project was delivered below budget, and the team received the Navient Navigator Leadership Award 2020 following the successful launch.

In 2020 Navient implemented Sterling Background Check as part of its BackGround Screening tooling to support high volume temporary candidate screening for Talent Acquisition. The deployment supported a remote recruiting cycle that ran December 2020 to June 2021 and centered on screening, verification, and candidate status tracking for contract hires.
The implementation emphasized standard BackGround Screening capabilities, including candidate identity checks, verification workflows, and adjudication steps aligned to recruiting stages. Sterling Background Check was used alongside manual and semi automated processes to validate candidate information uncovered during online research and interviews conducted through job boards.
Operational coverage focused on Talent Acquisition activities for temporary and contract staffing, with Sterling Background Check used in conjunction with Workday and SmartSheet for candidate tracking and onboarding coordination. New candidate tracking and verification methods were implemented using Excel, reflecting a pragmatic mixture of system based checks and spreadsheet driven orchestration.
Governance was organized around recruiting and onboarding checkpoints, with recruiters following up with candidates at all stages and documenting verification status as part of onboarding workflows. The work reflected a targeted, time boxed rollout for remote temporary hiring, integrating screening outputs into existing applicant tracking activities without an explicit external systems integrator.

Navient implemented AppWorx Workload Automation in 2018 to centralize Business Process Management for enterprise job scheduling and release orchestration. The deployment positioned AppWorx Workload Automation as the primary scheduling engine to coordinate cross-application workloads and to standardize batch and event-driven processes across IT operations and application development teams.
The implementation included configuration of workload automation workflows, agent-based job execution, and promotion pipelines to move code and file changes from development to production. Operational activities documented during the period included file migrations for application development teams, orchestration of Tomcat and Java application upgrades, and hands-on production deployments using remote access tools and RAdmin.
Architecturally the solution was operated alongside the estate of Linux servers and used a relational persistence layer for scheduling metadata, aligning with common workload automation architectures in large financial services environments. AppWorx Workload Automation was used to schedule and monitor batch jobs, enforce sequencing and dependencies, and provide centralized logging and troubleshooting for application teams.
Governance was organized around a central job scheduling function that maintained existing job definitions, scheduled new application workflows, and provided operational support and escalation for runbook execution. Change control and deployment procedures emphasized controlled promotions from development to production and coordinated troubleshooting between the scheduling team and application owners.
