In 2019, Neova Oy implemented IBM Planning Analytics with Watson as its enterprise performance management foundation to standardize planning and forecasting across its manufacturing organization in Finland, a company with approximately 1000 employees. The deployment was positioned to address corporate and operational planning needs under the EPM category, establishing a common planning platform for finance and related operational teams.
The implementation of IBM Planning Analytics with Watson focused on core EPM capabilities typical of the solution, including driver based budgeting, rolling forecasting, scenario modeling, multicurrency planning and automated calculation logic powered by the TM1 calculation engine. The project delivered a centralized analytics console and planning models to replace spreadsheet based workflows, enabling modelled financial and operational plans, version management and interactive reporting within the IBM Planning Analytics with Watson environment.
Architecturally the deployment used multidimensional, in memory cube models and governed calculation scripts to consolidate planning logic, with process orchestration to automate routine planning cycles and data refreshes. The platform was configured to centralize planning data and serve as the single source of truth for planning workflows across corporate finance and operational planning groups, while preserving model granularity suitable for manufacturing cost and revenue drivers.
Governance and rollout emphasized model governance, role based access control, standardized templates and a structured planning cadence to shift operational ownership into planning teams. Change management included formalized workflow roles and training for planners and finance users to embed new EPM workflows and reduce reliance on decentralized spreadsheets.
