In 2022, Norilsk Nickel placed a pilot issue of digital financial assets on the Atomyze Blockchain Platform. The debut issuance mirrored the company’s payables that were issued to a production equipment supplier and onsold to Rosbank, and was branded New Money Market DFA or NMM to test issuance and transaction mechanics on a Blockchain Platform.
The Atomyze Blockchain Platform implementation focused on on chain issuance and smart contract based settlement capabilities, providing a native interface for paper based digital transacting, programmable settlement logic for instant delivery of assets or money, and token features supporting splitting and ease of transfer in secondary markets. The platform preserved verifiable DFA ownership on the blockchain, enabling provable rights without reliance on a central counterparty, and exposed standard issuance and custody workflows typical of a Blockchain Platform.
Operational coverage was explicitly tied to Norilsk Nickel’s Treasury Department and a pilot use case in short term trade finance, where NMM DFAs represent unconditional repayment obligations to investors per offering documents. The implementation positioned the Atomyze Blockchain Platform to support factoring style instruments and short term bonds in a tokenized form, enabling issuance, transferability, and lifecycle management of digital financial assets.
The rollout was run as a pilot to validate platform functionality and operating specifics, with company statements linking success to potential scaling and expansion of digital financial asset offerings. Norilsk Nickel indicated that scaling the pilot could broaden circulation of NMM DFAs and expand tools for working capital and free liquidity management.
