In 2021, NXO implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform, executing a migration project that moved the company from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to the intelligent SAP S/4 HANA environment. The decision was taken at the end of 2019, the program used 2020 to refine the migration roadmap and perform extensive data cleanup, and the formal migration work began and completed go live in 2021.

In 2021, NXO implemented SAP S/4 HANA Materials Management (MM) as the Inventory Management component of a broader SAP S/4HANA ERP migration covering back-office functions. The program was executed with Augusta Reeves Group leading the first phase, following a decision made at the end of 2019 to consolidate the company SAP footprint and prepare the environment for a controlled S/4HANA rollout.
The implementation encompassed core back-office modules including FICO, SD/MM and PS, with Materials Management MM configured to support procurement, inventory control and material master rationalization. Data cleansing was performed using SAP SLO to remove records tied to prior group subsidiaries, which explicitly reduced the size of the SAP HANA database, and server infrastructures were repatriated to and modernized in NXO data centers to align the runtime architecture with the new S/4HANA landscape.
Business lines and key users participated in intensive testing cycles and user training prior to go-live, with SAP S/4HANA entering production in September 2021 followed by a short hypercare window to resolve initial issues. The deployment introduced Fiori dashboards to improve ergonomics for operational staff, with project managers receiving Fiori tiles first and plans to extend modernized user interfaces across other roles.
Governance relied on an engaged key user community to validate standard processes and integrate fixes during iterative test phases, keeping scope constant to shorten project duration and control costs. NXO documented specific downstream workstreams for 2022 to redeploy SAP CRM 7 functionality into SAP S/4HANA and to implement SAP S/4HANA Service alongside SAP Field Service Management, with those additions intended to enable AI assisted processes, IoT driven field feedback, customer self service and simplified task planning as part of the extended roadmap.
