In 2008, Oceaneering implemented Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as a core ERP Financial system to support corporate finance and human resources functions. The deployment positioned Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as the primary transactional backbone for Finance and HCM across the organization, with explicit coverage of a Financial Brazil instance.
The implementation included PeopleSoft HCM, PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft Portal, and a localized Financial Brazil module, deployed on Oracle 11g databases running on both Linux and Windows platforms. Oracle RAC was created and maintained to provide high availability and horizontal scaling for the PeopleSoft environment, aligning database architecture with enterprise availability requirements.
Business intelligence and reporting were instrumented through Oracle BI Enterprise Edition as the companys first enterprise BI tools, integrated into the PeopleSoft data flows for financial and HR reporting. The application landscape was administered alongside Primavera for project scheduling, Enterprise PDM for engineering data management, and Perceptive ImageNow for imaging, reflecting integrations between PeopleSoft transactional data and specialized engineering and project systems. An F5 BigIP load balancing layer was deployed using LTM, APM, and GTM and secured with SecureAuth two factor authentication to protect access to enterprise applications, while Microsoft SQL Server 2000 2005 2008 environments were managed in parallel for other application needs.
Operational governance centered on a primary PeopleSoft database administrator and application administrator who managed cross platform database operations, RAC configuration, OBIEE infrastructure, and application security controls. The configuration required coordinated change control across database, application, BI, and networking teams, and it established an operational model for ongoing administration of Oracle PeopleSoft ERP and associated integrated systems.
