The laboratory information workflows were configured to support molecular pathology activities, including specimen storage and preparation, RNA extraction and PCR amplification steps that laboratory staff perform during SARS CoV2 testing. Operational coverage included the clinical chemistry, hematology, clinical microscopy, blood banking and bacteriology functions described by the facility staff, with the Bizbox Hospital Information System used by medical technologists and molecular technologists for test ordering, result verification and quality control procedures. The implementation supported outpatient venipuncture and inpatient specimen collection workflows, as well as laboratory equipment calibration and result recording processes handled by laboratory personnel.
