In 2018 ONEOK completed an upgrade to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, deploying Oracle e‑Business Suite Accounts Payable as its AP Automation application. The program followed 11 months of test and exploratory cycles and was executed as an enterprise R12 upgrade with assistance from IT services firm Data Intensity. Implementation work centered on Accounts Payable and tax calculation integrations—the previously used Vertex sales tax module was not certified for R12, so ONEOK switched to Oracle’s new Tax Engine during cutover. The project required migrating a large volume of historical AP data (called out as one of the biggest technical challenges) and the final cutover occurred mid-payroll cycle, which temporarily locked old time cards. Despite those issues the upgrade was completed successfully, consolidating ONEOK’s AP processing on EBS R12 and migrating tax processing to Oracle’s native engine.

| Broadcom | Legacy | AppWorx Workload Automation | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012, ONEOK implemented AppWorx Workload Automation under the Business Process Management category to centralize batch orchestration and workload scheduling. The deployment targeted high-volume Banner batch processing workflows that supported over 3 million customers, positioning AppWorx Workload Automation as the enterprise scheduler for operations and NOC visibility.
The implementation included a migration from AppWorx v8 to UC4 Automation Engine v9 within Broadcom's product family, and installation of UC4 Enterprise Control Center web portal running on Tomcat 8. Core functional capabilities deployed comprised agent installation across platforms, job scheduling and dependency orchestration, notification pattern configuration, and log and event management to capture and archive output files for success and failure determination.
Integrations implemented included UC4 AppWorx integration with Microsoft SCOM monitoring to provide a standardized monitoring tool and improved visibility for operations teams. Operational coverage spanned meetings with business units to capture requirements, definition of process flowcharts and monitoring options, and handoff of criticality definitions and handling methods to the NOC operations team.
Governance and process changes focused on formal technical documentation, training for operations and development teams, and establishment of notification and monitoring patterns that tied into on-call support procedures. Development and automation scripting supporting the environment used UNIX Shell scripts, Oracle PL SQL, and PowerShell to implement job logic and output scanning.
The rollout included 24/7 on-call support and centralized monitoring through the UC4 ECC portal, delivering standardized monitoring and improved operational visibility as explicitly stated during the engagement. AppWorx Workload Automation remained the focal Business Process Management platform for job orchestration and operational control across affected business functions.
