SAP SAP ERP ECC 6.0 SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP Financial ERP n/a 2019 2020
In 2019, Oxford University Press implemented SAP S/4HANA Cloud as its ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0. The deployment positioned SAP S/4HANA Cloud on SAP HANA in memory architecture to centralize core finance processes for the publishing organization and to provide embedded analytics and real time transactional processing. The implementation focused on standard ERP Financial capabilities, configured for enterprise finance workflows including financial accounting and reporting, general ledger consolidation, accounts payable and receivable processing, treasury and cash management, and statutory reporting. SAP S/4HANA Cloud functionality was implemented with intelligent automation features, including embedded analytics, conversational interfaces, digital assistants, and provisions for robotic process automation to streamline accounting and close activities. Technical workstreams included a technical conversion and data migration from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, replatforming data into the SAP HANA in memory store and mapping financial master data to the new data model. The architecture emphasized an integrated single source of financial truth in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, enabling real time reporting and operational financial insights across Oxford University Press finance systems. Governance and process rationalization accompanied the rollout, with finance process harmonization, centralized master data governance, and change controls to adopt embedded analytics and automation in transactional finance operations. The SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation aligned Oxford University Press finance, accounting, and treasury functions under a standardized ERP Financial framework to support ongoing operational consistency and faster decision cycles.
