SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP n/a 2009 2010
In 2009 Oxfordshire County Council implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 in the ERP Financial category as a county wide upgrade from SAP 4.7, combining an application upgrade with concurrent hardware landscape, operating system and database changes. The program was executed under a condensed timetable that required rescuing a failing landscape change and coordinating simultaneous technical and functional cutover activities across council sites. The implementation covered core financial and procurement modules, specifically FI, CO, MM and SD, with configuration focused on transactional finance, cost accounting, materials management and sales order processing workflows. A new dry run was initiated and successfully executed in mid July 2009 to validate the ECC 6.0 configuration and the end to end cutover sequence prior to final approval by council stakeholders. Deployment architecture included synchronized OS and database upgrades alongside the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 application stack, with cutover tasks sequenced to minimize system downtime and ensure data integrity during the transition. The approach emphasized task and sub task level cutover orchestration, runbook sequencing and explicit resource assignments for each phase of the technical and application cutover. Governance was tightened through revised project procedures and a detailed cutover plan broken down to task and sub task level, supplemented by a project plan to improve communication and escalation paths. Resource allocation was formalized for the beginning of August and formal go decision authority was exercised by Oxfordshire County Council after the successful dry run. The system went live on the originally prescribed date of 3rd Aug 2009 following the revamped governance and cutover execution, with formal go communicated by the council after the mid July dry run. Customer feedback documented on project completion stated I would never have believed it was possible to go from where we were 5 weeks ago to going live on the date specified, reflecting the successful delivery of the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial implementation.
