IBM Legacy IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2012 2012
In 2012, Pak-Arab Refinery implemented IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management solution. The deployment targeted maintenance and operations across PARCO's large refinery complex, covering key units including CDU/VDU, GCU LPG Recovery, VISB, MHC, NHT/PLAT/CCR, amine treating, kerosene meraux and SRU units. IBM Maximo was configured as the central CMMS to standardize asset registry and work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, spare parts inventory control and permit to work coordination. Configuration work emphasized asset hierarchies tied to unit equipment, PM triggers driven by runtime and calendar rules, failure coding and technician skill assignments to support planned maintenance and breakdown response. The implementation included integration with SAP ECC 6.0 for procurement, spare parts financials and inventory reconciliation, enabling handoff between maintenance work orders and ERP purchasing and costing. Operational coverage extended to maintenance planners, area operators and shift supervisors, aligning Maximo work order lifecycles with site planning and shutdown activities. Governance and process changes focused on formalizing work order approvals, embedding Permit to Work procedures into maintenance workflows and centralizing documentation such as unit operating manuals and procedures in the asset management system. Training, operator assignment for maintenance activities and maintenance planning processes were institutionalized to support reliable execution of shutdowns and routine maintenance within the Enterprise Asset Management framework provided by IBM Maximo.
