Oracle Legacy Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP Financial ERP n/a 2008 2013
In 2008, Pearl Izumi USA, Inc. implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as its ERP Financial system to centralize core finance processes. The deployment targeted accounting, tax and consolidation functions across branches in California, Japan, Canada and Europe. Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne was configured to process intercompany transactions and to support month and quarter end close activities by calculating, reviewing and posting journal entries to the general ledger. The implementation included account creation and ongoing general ledger management, monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations, and preparation of consolidated financial reports including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Comprehensive Income Statement, Statement of Equity and Statement of Cash Flows in accordance with GAAP and IFRS. Financial analysis of actual results versus budget and forecast was conducted from the system outputs to support management reporting. Fixed assets acquisitions and dispositions were recorded in Sage software FAS 2014.1 with project cost roll up into fixed asset accounts, depreciation calculations and reconciliation of the fixed assets subsidiary ledger to the summary level general ledger account. Sales and use tax compliance was operationalized through preparation of monthly and quarterly returns for 24 states, and the finance team initiated research and vendor engagement for new sales tax software as part of process efficiency efforts. Bank reconciliation reliability and throughput were improved by developing Excel spreadsheet macros to automate cross referencing and reduce entry time by 30 percent. Governance changes accompanied the technical work, with new policies and procedures created and SOX documentation developed to formalize close controls, reconciliations and approval workflows. Operational scope remained focused on finance and accounting disciplines, tax compliance and consolidated reporting across the specified regional footprint using Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as the core ERP Financial platform.
